Talking Clock
A young man moved away from his parents to become a student. Proudly showing off his new apartment to a couple of his friends late one night, he led the way to his bedroom where there was a big brass gong.
"What's that big brass gong?" one of the guests asked. "It's not a gong. It's a talking clock," the man replied. "A talking clock? Seriously? Asked his astonished friend. "Yes," replied the student. "How does it work?" the second guest asked, squinting at it. "Watch," the student replied. He picked up a hammer, gave it an ear-shattering pound and stepped back. The three stood looking at one another for a moment. Suddenly, someone on the other side of the wall screamed: "You idiot, it's ten past three in the morning!"

FROM GOD'S ARMS, TO MY ARMS, TO YOURS
So many wrong decisions in my past, I'm not quite sure
If I can ever hope to trust my judgement anymore.
But lately I've been thinking,
Cause it's all I've had to do.
And in my heart I feel that I
Should give this child to you.
And maybe, you could tell your baby,
When you love him so, that he's been loved before,
By someone, who delivered your son,
From God's arms, to my arms, to yours.
If you choose to tell him,
If he wants to know,
How the one who gave him life
Could bear to let him go.
Just tell him there were sleepless nights,
I prayed and paced the floors,
And knew the only peace I'd find,
Was if this child was yours.
And maybe, you could tell your baby,
When you love him so, that he's been loved before,
By someone, who delivered your son,
From God's arms, to my arms, to yours.
This may not be the answer,
For another girl like me.
But I'm not on a soapbox,
Saying how we all should be.
I'm just trusting in my feelings,
And I'm trusting God above,
And I'm trusting you can give this baby
Both his mothers' love.
And maybe, you could tell your baby,
When you love him so, that he's been loved before,
By someone, who delivered your son,
From God's arms, to my arms, to yours.

Hi this is a female who was given up for adoption at birth. My birth mother named me Kerry Isabel when I was born. I was born on June 17, 1980 at Boston, MA. My mother was the oldest of the five kids and my father was one of the four sons in his family. My father was married once before and during that marriage, he had a daughter, who was 16 at the time of my birth. My birth mother's father was a cop when I was born. I know that she had two brothers and two sisters. Her youngest sister was just 14 years old at the time of my birth and one of her brother's was 25 and either he or the other brother was a truck driver. She was 27 at the time of my birth. Please help me find her and email me if you have any information. Jill

I was born in San Francisco on August 10, 1953 and was adopted in March, 1954 by an incredibly wonderful family. Both my parents are deceased now and I would love to find my birth mother. I do know a little bit about her - particularly that she was 22 (and unmarried) when she gave birth, which today puts her in her mid-70. I am aware, of course, that it is very possible that she, too, may no longer be alive. My birth mother was from Pennsylvania and worked in Washington DC. Early in her pregnancy, she moved to San Francisco presumably to avoid embarrassment, which would have been inevitable had she remained in the area. Please email me. Laurie
Hi, my name is Bradley Kennedy. I was born in Mecklenburg, North Carolina. I was adopted through the Social Services in South Carolina when I was five months old. I had been living with a foster family until I was adopted. I was called Baby Scott, but my adoptive parents changed my name to Bradley. My adoptive father left us when I was 7 years old. My adoptive mother is in really bad health and I would like to find my birth parents before any thing happens to my adoptive mother. I also have a learning disability. I would like to find out about my medical records but I don't know how? If anyone has any help please email me.
Hi, I have written before to try and find any information on my adoption, so I thought I would try it once more. I am a female who was adopted at birth on September 8, 1985. I was born in Lackawana, PA and was adopted through Golden Gradle Adoption Agency. My records are closed and I have no information at all to help with the search. If anyone has any information about this, please email me. I am curious to learn more about where I come from, and if there are any medical concerns that I should know about.
I would like to let all the adoptees born in New Jersey know that the state Assembly Human Services Committee will be considering a proposed bill (A2557) which would allow adult adoptees access to their original birth certificates. This measure was passed by the State Senate in December. There is a down side to this bill, however. Before any birth certificates can be released, birth parents have one year from the effective date of the law to opt out of the identification provision. To do this, the birth parent must provide a detailed family, medical and cultural history that will be given to the adoptee in lieu of the birth certificate. This provision plays to the shame and secrecy that have been the foundation of the closed adoption system since the 1940's. As we Baby Boomer adoptees age, the need for this identifying information can become a matter of life or death. The absolute right of every human being to know his or her origins must no longer be sacrificed to preserve the stigma of illegitimacy. If you were born in New Jersey and want your original birth certificate unsealed, please contact your state representatives to let them know. Linda D in NJ
