Coming Downstairs
Teddy came thundering down the stairs, much to his father's annoyance. "Teddy," he called, "how many more times have I got to tell you to come down the stairs quietly? Now, go back up and come down like a civilized human being."
There was a silence, and Teddy reappeared in the front room. "That's better," said his father. "Now will you always come down stairs like that?" "Suits me," said Teddy. "I slid down the banister."

13. Adoption Poetry | | | | |
A TRICK OF THE HEART
I got a call today from my fair-haired baby boy.
His voice was as soothing to me as any choir of angels.
I rushed to his side so I could hold him
safe, warm, snug against my bosom
and smell his sweet baby scent;
but he was not there.
In his place stood a man.
A stranger with a familiar face;
someone else's son.
A trick of the heart.

My name is Kathleen and I would like to encourage everyone who is looking for a child or parent due to adoption. On April 29, 2007, I opened an email requesting information about a birth mother. The person who was requesting the information is the mother of the man that my daughter was dating. I know that this is not something that happens often, but it only took this woman about two weeks to locate me. Unfortunately, it took me another three weeks to reply to the email, because that particular account is one that I only check once or twice a month. Needless to say, I now check it every day. My daughter and I, who have been separated for twenty-three years, are now on the road to discovering who we are. We are both emotional and excited. I will forever be grateful for the online registries. If it were not for them then her search as well as mine would still be going on. Do not give up hope. Miracles do happen. And there is always HOPE.
Hi this has reference to "Hi, I am searching for my birth family" posted by Nadine from the April 25 issue. Please email me.
My name is Donna and I am looking for two of my half brothers who would have been born in the 1960's at Missouri. Their biological (my biological) mother's name would have been Donna Marie. They were given up for adoption when they were very young. Please email me if you have information.
